Joiner - Fire Doors

As a Joiner, you will be responsible to provide a high-quality, responsive, and cost-effective maintenance service across a range of building environments. To carry out a wide range of 1st and 2nd fix joinery tasks, Fire Door Maintenance alongside providing general support as a multi-skilled operative on construction, maintenance, and refurbishment projects. The role requires delivering high-quality workmanship across a variety of sites while maintaining a strong focus on health and safety and customer service. Key Responsibilities Fire Door Installation & Certification: Carry out the installation of new fire doors (FD30, FD60, and other specifications) in line with BM TRADA Q-Mark, FIRAS, or other relevant certification schemes. Inspect and survey existing fire doors to assess condition and compliance. Perform fire door maintenance and remedial works (repairs, replacement of seals, hinges, closers, intumescent strips, etc.). Complete all required certification and compliance paperwork accurately, including labeling and tagging of doors as per scheme requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current fire safety regulations (e.g., BS 8214, BS 476, BS EN 1634-1, Building Safety Act 2022, and Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005). Liaise with internal teams, clients, and external inspectors during fire door audits and compliance checks. Joinery (1st & 2nd Fix): Undertake all aspects of 1st fix carpentry, including: Structural timber work (e.g., stud walls, joists, door frames) Installing partition walls and frameworks Fitting flooring, staircases, and roof structures where required Carry out 2nd fix carpentry, including: Hanging doors and fitting ironmongery Installing skirting boards, architraves, and other decorative woodwork Fitting kitchens, worktops, and bespoke joinery items Boxing in services and final finishing carpentry tasks Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and method statements to complete works accurately. Other Operational Tasks: Support other trades where needed (e.g., minor plaster patching, basic tiling, or painting touch-ups). Assist with site set-up, temporary works, and clearance as required. Carry out minor maintenance and repair work to building fabric (walls, ceilings, flooring, fixtures). Provide labouring support to colleagues to help meet project deadlines. Safely use a range of hand tools, power tools, and access equipment.
